The purpose of this council is to lead process improvement efforts, drive change, maximize resource utilization, foster effective communication, identify and prioritize opportunities, plan project work and implement productivity measurement systems.

Executive Sponsor — Brett Dalton CFO
The Executive Sponsor plays a critical role in the University’s process improvement efforts by interfacing with the Co-Chairs of the Discovery Council as well as the Executive Sponsorship Team. This individual is specifically responsible for approving the planned work of the Discovery Council and communicating key information to his peers. The Executive Sponsor acts as the Discovery Council’s point person for eliminating roadblocks that may impact the group’s ability to deliver timely cost management solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drive execution of process improvement efforts.
- Identify and procure resources for projects.
- Complete thorough business case analysis.
- Plan and provide input to project prioritization.
- Identify opportunities.
- Establish a culture that challenges waste in all forms.
- Expose roadblocks.
- Develop and provide quality measurement systems.
- Facilitate cultural change by leading through examples.
- Drive effective communication.
- Share best practices.
- Develop and deliver training.
- Attend team meetings.
