Bill Hughes ’85, Colie B. Whitaker ’02
Spring 2005
Civil engineering
graduate Bill Hughes is director of Maintenance and Minor Construction
with University Facilities at Clemson. He’s
also in the Air Force Reserves and is currently serving in Operation
Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.
On a recent mission, Hughes (pictured left) met fellow alumnus Lt.
Colie Whitaker of Greensboro, Ga., an education graduate and a C-130
pilot serving at a base in Iraq. The two men are pictured displaying
an American flag that previously flew over the U.S. Capitol. U.S. Rep.
Gresham Barrett presented it to Clemson President Jim Barker, who in
turn sent it to Iraq with Hughes.
