Thomas
J. Burleson ’73
Spring 2006
To say building
science graduate Tommy Burleson of Johnson City, Tenn., is active
is an understatement. He’s president of Burleson Construction
Co. and an industry adviser. He’s also a member of Clemson’s
Design + Building board of directors and past sponsor of tailgate parties
for Clemson’s construction management program.
The recently retired Army colonel served in both Desert Storm and Iraqi
Freedom.
He’s on the board of directors for Mountain States Health Alliance,
a nonprofit health-care system serving more than 20 counties in three
states. And he’s involved with the Sequoyah Council of the Boy
Scouts of America, Johnson City. He was also instrumental in the creation
of the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House at the Johnson City
Medical Center.
His daughter, Polly, graduated in December from Clemson in recreational
therapy after an internship with Greenville Shriners Hospital.
