*Michael L. Shealy ’81Economics and political science graduate Mike Shealy serves as budget director for the S.C. Senate Finance Committee, one of the most powerful committees in the state Senate.

Shealy is one of a growing number of Clemson alumni serving in the governmental sector. Prior to joining the state Senate staff in January 2001, he was director of the regional development division for the State Budget and Control Board. In addition, his impressive experience includes the State Budget Office and the Board of Economic Advisors.

Shealy earned his master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina and completed studies at the Georgetown University Institute of Comparative Political and Economic Systems.

He serves on the Clemson University Board of Visitors and has previously served on the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary Board of Visitors. He’s pictured second from left with son Andrew, Renee Hamlin, Evelyn Cribb Ritchie ’83 and Sen. Jim Ritchie.
