Family run
David J. ’81 and Mary Elizabeth Watkins
Summer 2007
Accounting graduate David Watkins of Columbia and his daughter Mary Elizabeth,
a Clemson pre-rehabilitation sciences major, recently ran in the University’s
student-sponsored Take Back the Night, an international movement organized
in local communities to raise funds and awareness to prevent violence against
women.
David began running in 2000 and ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington,
D.C., in 2002. Mary Elizabeth joined him several years later, and the father-daughter
duo has run the S.C. Governor’s Cup, a half marathon, together for the past
two years.
David is a certified public accountant with his own practice. Mary Elizabeth,
a Dean’s List student, plans to attend medical school after Clemson.
