One way to make note taking easier
is to prepare yourself before coming to lecture. You
can do this in two ways:
- Professors usually provide
assigned readings in the course syllabus or
other handouts. Spend 10 to 15 minutes before
class and skim the assigned pages. Doing so
will familiarize you with the basic concepts
and terminology for that lecture and prepare
you to take more organized notes.
- If the professor provides
individual lecture handouts that list key
concepts, terminology, or specific study
objectives, take the time to look over these
items before lecture begins. Then when the
professor uses these ideas and terms in
lecture, you will already be somewhat
familiar with them and have a better chance
of accurately recording this information in
your notes.
