What Makes an Honors Course an Honors Course?

General Honors requirements.

Departmental Honors: See student handbook. Students with majors that do not have Departmental Honors programs can complete Departmental Honors in a different major. To discuss options for Departmental Honors call 656-4762 to make an appointment.

An advising form (pdf) has been developed for students who would like to keep track of their progress in General Honors and Departmental Honors.

Engineering pairing of CHS courses with Humanities or Social Science:

  1. CHS H201 (social science) pairs with a three-credit course in History, Political Science or Sociology.
  2. CHS H202 (social science) pairs with a three-credit course in Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science or Sociology.
  3. CHS H203 (humanities) pairs with any three-credit course listed under the humanities section of the General Education requirements in the Undergraduate Announcements.
  4. Additionally, CHS H201 and CHS H202 may pair with each other, but not with CHS H203.
