Emily Burchfield

Emily Burchfield is an Economics major from Seneca, South Carolina. She is the 2008 Duckenfield Scholar and will attend the 2008 summer session of St. Peter’s College, University of Oxford, Oxford, England. Working with students from Belgium, Emily spent the month of July 2006 building homes for needy families in remote villages of southeast India. Emily says participation in this project has changed her life forever. “I can’t explain the profound effect this trip has had on the way I view the world. I was able to learn about two very different cultures, that of Belgium and India.  It engaged me in ways I never thought possible. I highly recommend this program. I guarantee you will come back changed for the better.
