Students that have been accepted into the Honors College are eligible to request Holmes residence hall (Honors dormitory) as their first choice when they complete their university housing application. Lofting instructions (pdf).
Continuing honors students do not need to complete any additional housing forms for Holmes Hall.
Housing in Holmes Hall is provided to honors students on a space-available basis. This residence hall, one of the newest at Clemson, is centrally located on campus across from the historic Calhoun Mansion. It is a coeducational facility that accommodates approximately 300 students. The living quarters are fully carpeted and are arranged in two-room suites with adjoining baths. Each room has connections to Clemson's campus computer network and the Internet. Holmes has its own laundry facilities, meeting rooms and study lounges.
Honors Housing Assignment Procedures for Continuing Students
All assignments are based on the following priority within the lottery system. The lottery system is used to determine the assignment priority within each current academic classification.
Ties
will be resolved in the following manner:
First, in the event of pairs of roommates with the same class standing, the tie will be broken in favor of the pair having the higher semester class standing (e.g., second semester junior).
Second, should a tie remain after semester class is considered, the tie will be broken in favor of the pair of roommates having the highest number of earned credit hours.
Third, in the event of a tie in earned credit hours, the tie will be broken in favor of the pair of roommates with the higher average cumulative grade-point ratio.
These procedures were approved on October 21, 1998 by the Calhoun College Committee.
