Conference Travel Fund

The Honors College is happy to announce the creation of the Conference Travel Fund (CTF) which is intended to provide financial support to students in the Calhoun Honors College planning to attend conferences related to their academic interests.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be current Honors Students in good standing at the time of application and at time of the conference.
  • To be eligible for a full grant up to $500, applicants must have submitted a proposal that has been accepted for presentation at a conference related to the applicant's academic interests.  Students who plan to attend a conference but will not make a presentation will be eligible for a partial grant up to $300.
  • Please be aware the Honors College has limited funds and may not be able to fund all requests.  We encourage students to seek additional support from other sources.

Approved Expenses

Students will be reimbursed for the following expenses:

  • Conference Registration Fees
  • Lodging - cost of room in hotel, motel, dormitory, or conference center and related taxes.  Charges for television, phones, movies or other services will not be reimbursed.
  • Food - the cost of meals will be reimbursed in accordance with Clemson University policy at a rate no greater than the applicable per diem rate.
  • Transportation:
    • Public carrier - cost of plane, train, or bus tickets
    • Personal vehicle - the cost of use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed in accordance with Clemson University mileage rates.  Carpooling is encouraged.  
Receipts must be submitted to Lynn Reeves in the Honors College Office, 105 Tillman Hall, within 10 days of the grantee's return from the conference.


Application

A completed application will consist of:

  • Letter of Acceptance of Presentation Proposal from sponsoring conference (if applicable)
  • Letter of Support from Clemson faculty member
