Honors students have the opprotunity to take intensive, small classes with leading members of Clemson's internationally recognized faculty. Recent examples have included courses on The Current Economic Crisis; The Arab Spring; The Titanic Remembered; Nanotechnology; and The Holocaust in Literature.
Clemson Honors faculty and staff work intensively with students who apply for leading national and international scholarships and fellowships, including the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, and Goldwater Scholarships and the National Science Foundation Fellowships.
We encourage our students to expand their horizons by traveling across the country and around the world to study, participate in internships, and do research. In recent years Calhoun Honors students have worked in medical clinics in Latin America; interned at the Agency for International Development in Washington, DC; studied at Oxford Unversity and the Sorbonne; and done research at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland.
Honors students may apply for funds to support their Departmental Honors research and to attend professional conferences. These competitive grants may be used for such needs as equipment, supplies or travel to research facilities. Honors Research Grants have led to countless publications, professional poster presentations, Goldwater Scholarships, and patents.
