CURF Home>>Facilities Clemson University Research Foundation has several facilities that support and enable research activities in conjunction with Clemson University. Center for Applied Technology (CAT) - Located near Clemson University, CAT provides a unique collaborative environment to move ideas out of laboratories and into the marketplace. Clemson Apparel Research (CAR) - State-of-the-art technology is demonstrated at CAR's 6,000 square foot model apparel plant. The plant is used to demonstrate new manufacturing equipment as well as innovative manufacturing management concepts. The CAR manufacturing facility currently employs 15 sewing operators under the direction of Tina Haley, Production Manager. They produce approximately 1200-1500 commercial and military shirts per week. Clemson Institute of Environmental Toxicology (CIET) - A 38,000 square foot Clemson Univerisity research facility in Pendleton, SC, CIET contains office space and state-of-the-art laboratories for its 11 faculty members and 29 graduate students. Many of the laboratories have computer-controlled environments and there are several specialized testing rooms. These dedicated laboratories are used for exposures, isolations, histopathology, and analysis of chemicals in a variety of matrices. National
Brick Research Center (Bishop Ceramic Laboratory) - The 17,000 Laboratory
which opened in 1996 includes a multipurpose 10,000 square foot high bay
pilot plant with major pilot scale ceramic processing equipment. |
