MISSION

The Primary mission of the Edisto Community Action Team (ECAT) program is to develop strategies that link the Agricultural Heritage Center (AHC), Inc. and the (3) higher education institutions (Clemson University, Denmark Technical College, and South Carolina State University) for the purpose of: 1) exposing pre-college students to various activities that will broaden thier awareness of opportunities and ultimately become the cadre of personnel for careers in food system production, processing, and consumption; 2) promoting better understanding and appreciation of agriculture and its impact on society; and 3)developing a collaborative alliance with key stakeholders to plan, design, and implement educational outreach delivery programs for pre-college youth in agricultural science. Using pilot outreach programs, workstudy programs, and internships, the program will identify opportunity areas and implement collaborative efforts and ventures under the ECAT umbrella.
