Claflin University

Claflin UniversityFounded in 1869, Claflin University is the oldest historically black college or university in South Carolina. It is an independent, four-year, liberal arts university affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The 43-acre campus is located in Orangeburg, S.C.

More than 1,800 men and women attend this institution, which is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the bachelor's degree and the Master of Business Administration. Claflin offers degrees in 35 majors.

In America's Best Colleges 2005, U.S.News & World Report ranks Claflin at No. 9 in the "Top Ten" and the "Best Value" among Southern Comprehensive Colleges for students working toward a bachelor's degree.
