Midlands Technical CollegeMidlands Technical College's Call Me MISTER® project seeks to recruit, train and assist in the certification of black males who are interested in becoming elementary school teachers in South Carolina's public schools. The Project prepares students for the first two years of a teacher education training program. Upon completion of the MTC Call Me MISTER® program and / or prerequisite resuirements, students may transfer to a four-year institution's Call Me MISTER® program to complete a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Midlands Technical College is the product of a rich and unique history, forming after a public trade school, a public technical education center and a private junior college merged to form one of the state's largest comprehensive technical/community colleges.

Present day Midlands Technical College is a comprehensive, multi-campus, public, two-year college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties.. The college offers more than 100 programs in the areas of Nursing and Health Sciences, Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Information Technology, Business and Public Service. Midlands Technical College is also the largest source of transfer students to the University of South Carolina.
