Increase: 2006/2007 Billing Rates for Electron
Microscope Facility
The
new internal rates for the Electron Microscope Facility for the new
fiscal year are:
- 7600
TEM: $45.00/hour, $35.00/hour after 4:30 PM until 8:00 AM
- HD2000
$40.00/hour, 9500 $40.00/hour
- 3500
SEM $45.00/hour, $35.00/hour after 4:30 PM until 8:00 AM
- 3400
SEM $45.00/hour, $35.00/hour after 4:30 PM until 8:00 AM
- FESEM
$45.00/hour, $35.00/hour after 4:30 PM until 8:00 AM
- FIB
$50.00/hour
- XPS
$50.00/hour
The new rates
are in line with other institutions hourly rates and takes into account
the increased cost for service contracts and supplies associated
with the operation and maintenance of the new equipment.
Holidays
The Electron Microscope Facility will be closed November 26th and 27th, 2009 for Thanksgiving. We will resume normal working hours Monday November 30th, 2009.
New Software Protocol for inside EM Lab Users
The EM Lab has installed a new system for all users. This will require all users to have an IDO on file in Dayton Cash’s office prior to using the microscopes. Everyone will be issued a username and password which will be removed the last day of the month unless a new IDO has been sent for the new month ahead. You will not be able to reserve microscope time without your user ID, password, and IDO.
Procedure:
1. Send signed IDO to Dayton Cash (FAX# 656-2466 or e-mail ECASH@clemson.edu)
2. Go to this address online http://130.127.83.240
3. Taipan menu will appear. Select "Request Access." Please fill in all of the fields listed and send. Provided you have a current IDO on file, you will be put into the system and will gain access to the microscopes. If you do not have an IDO on file, your access will be denied.
Memory
storage
Images can now be stored onto the server and downloaded from home as long as you have a current account set up. USB flash drives will still be required for storage of EDS WDS word files.
Lab
supply fee
With
the supply cabinet now having to stay open, we have stopped charging for
aluminum stubs. In order to combat this supply fee lost, we decided to
mark the internal miscellaneous supply fee from $15 to $35. This fee is
charged one time per user per month.
Publications/Images
We
would like for any users with publications containing E.M. work done here
to give us a copy. We plan on creating a library of research done here.
Additionally, we would like to have unique images. These will be showcased
around the E.M. Facility. Each image will be professionally colorized and
framed, along with credit for the author listed.
