Dr. Diane Smathers serves as director of the Emeritus College. She joined the Emeritus College initiative in 2003 after retiring from the Cooperative Extension Service. A seasoned administrator, Dr. Smathers holds a doctoral degree in higher education with a graduate certificate in gerontology. Her dissertation (1980) was titled A Study of the Impact of Mandatory Retirement Age Legislation on Select Faculties in the Southeast. She may be contacted at (864) 656-3990 or dsmthrs@clemson.edu.
Mrs. Linda Bridges serves as administrative assistant and LaCrystal Foreman serves as student assistant for the Emeritus College. Mrs. Bridges has worked at the University for many years and brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. LaCrystal is a junior English major from Columbia and assists Dr. Smathers with the daily operations of the College.
Aaron Temples is the graduate assistant for the Emeritus College. He brings more than five years of public relations, marketing and advertising experience to the position. Aaron is responsible for formatting the newsletter, designing invitations and otherwise making us look good. He is working towards an M.A.T. degree at the University Center of Greenville.
Ginny Bunce is a student worker in the Emeritus College who serves as the computer technology contact. Ginny is responsible for maintaining the emeriti web site, the database and distribution lists.
