Q:

I am a 9 month faculty member and I plan to terminate employment at the end of the current academic year or during the summer.  How does this impact my insurance?



A:

If at the end of the current academic year or during the summer, you plan to terminate employment, your insurance coverage will end the first of the month after termination of employment.  The Office of Human Resources will require your exact date of termination.  You must verify your date of employment termination with your Department and notify The Office of Human Resources in writing through Ask-HR no later than April 23rd.  We will adjust your insurance deductions appropriately, and refunds will be processed if necessary.

If insurance coverage is terminated due to ending employment, state health, dental and/or vision benefits may be continued under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for an extended period by completing the appropriate form and paying premiums within the required deadline.
