Before Your First Day

We are excited you’ve decided to join Clemson and look forward to seeing you on your start date. To ensure a smooth transition, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) recommends completing the following tasks prior to starting your new job.

  1. Complete the new-hire forms offered on the Tigers at Work website.
    1. Gather the documents needed to establish your identity. By law, the University must verify your employment eligibility no later than your first day of work. Remember to bring original documents, as copies are not acceptable. For a list of documents, click HERE.
    2. Section 1 of Form I-9. Work with your human resources partner to complete your Employee Information and Attestation portion of Form I-9.
    3. Emergency contact information:
      1. Visit my.clemson.edu.
      2. Click figure of head in top right
      3. Log in using your username and password.
      4. Click figure of head in top right.
      5. Edit as needed.
      6. Save.
    4. Direct deposit through Employee Self Service (ESS):
      1. Login to PeopleSoft (CUBS HR) using your username and password
      2. Click on Self Service (under Menu)
      3. Click on Payroll and Compensation
      4. Click on Direct Deposit; read the authorization, then click OK to continue
      5. To add a new account, click on the Add Account button.

  2. Attain parking decal. Use one of two methods.
    1. Attain a permanent parking decal by completing the Parking Permit Application and the Pre-Tax Parking Payroll Deduction form and visiting Parking Services (ph. 864-656-2270) in G-01 Edgar Brown Union, (see map). Student employees and intermittent employees are not eligible to pay for parking pre-tax.
    2. Attain a 15-day temporary parking pass online; Parking Services will follow up by mailing you your permanent parking decal prior to your temporary parking pass expiring. Use these steps to print your 15-day temporary parking pass:
      1. Visit the Parking Services website.
      2. Click Manage My Account.
      3. Log in using your username.
      4. Select Purchase Permit. (If the system does not state that you are authorized to purchase a parking decal online, please follow instructions for 2 a) above.
      5. Click Next.
      6. Select Permit Type (vehicle, motorcycle, etc.).
      7. Read and click on I Agree.
      8. Click Next.
      9. Link your vehicles. You may link up to 3 cars and one motorcycle. The parking decal is repositionable, so you can move it from vehicle to vehicle.
      10. Click Next.
      11. Select Shipping Address; confirm or modify your address.
      12. Click Next.
      13. Select a payment type and choose between online payroll deduction or credit card.
      14. Click Pay Now.
      15. Print your 15-day, temporary parking pass and place it inside your car on the driver’s side of the dashboard.
