Natural Resources & Economic Policy Concentration
B.S. Environmental and Natural Resources Clemson University

The Natural Resource and Economic Policy concentration provides more in-depth study in economics and policy applications.

What is Natural Resource and Economic Policy Analysis?

Natural Resource and Economic policy analysts design policies and develop plans to address the use of natural resources and environmental concerns, analyze the effectiveness of these policies, and evaluate the effects of policy decisions on economic growth, employment patterns, and income.

Employment Outlook

Throughout the economy, there is an increasing demand for environmental and natural resource professionals with public policy and social science training. Graduates with an Environmental and Natural Resource major with a concentration on natural resource and economic policy could be employed as environmental consultants in private industry, policy analysts for local, state, or federal agencies, or for various industry or environmental advocacy groups. Examples include environmental consulting firms, large corporations with environmental concerns, city water departments, state wildlife agencies, federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency, and advocacy groups such as the Sierra Club and the Natural Resource Defense Council.

Society has become increasingly concerned with issues related to the environment and our natural resources. Efforts to design policies and develop plans to address environmental concerns have increased at the local, state, and national levels. Interest has also increased regarding both the effectiveness of policy at addressing these environmental concerns and the effects of policy decisions on the economy. As interest in these issues has expanded, opportunities for employment in environmental policy analysis have also expanded and should continue to do so.
