Course: 102-A: Protecting Animal Ag through Biosecurity

Course Description:

Learn how to use biosecurity practices on animal farms.

1.) Learn how to use biosecurity practices to reduce the introduction and spread of animal diseases on farms and events.

2.) Learn hands-on how to use PPE on farms to prevent the spread of disease, and learn how to take animal samples using poultry and Avian Influenza outbreak as the scenario in biosecurity training.

Accomplishment Indicators:

Extension agents and specialists will have learned the importance of biosecurity techniques and apply this in visiting farms and in animal events. Agents and specialists will learn the role Extension agents have in dealing with an animal disease outbreak.

COURSE: 102-B: Incident Command System ICS - 300

PREREQUISITES: ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300 Part I on web

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Incident Command System for agriculture applications will be taught by USDA personnel to prepare extension agents and other CART members in preparing for and in responding to an agriculture emergency. ICS is the communication and command structure used in dealing with a critical situation.

Class limited to 40 participants. Meal provided, travel expense reimbursable.



COURSE: 102-C: Introduction to GPS - Part I

PREREQUISITES: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to Global Positioning System Technology. GPS technology is rapidly becoming a core field of science with many applications in agriculture and emergency preparedness. Precision Agriculture will become a standard for farmers and extension agents have an opportunity to learn the practical aspects of this technology by attending this training.

Class limited to 24 attendants. Meal provided, travel expense reimbursable.



COURSE: 102-D: GPS Training - Part II

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Further training on Global Positioning System Technology. GPS technology is rapidly becoming a core field of science with many applications in agriculture and emergency preparedness. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Agriculture and food production are essential to daily living and our economy. Both have been identified as being vulnerable to terrorist activities. This course will familiarize agents to the potential threats and will provide education resources to use for educating farmers in keeping our food supply safe.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Plant Disease Recognition and WMD Awareness - Foreign Plant Disease recognition will be taught to extension agents to assist the agriculture community in rapidly recognizing that a foreign or unknown disease has been found in agricultural crops.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Rapid Damage Assessment of row crops, farm animals and farm facilities will be taught to extension agents to assist state officials in determining the extend of damage after an agriculture emergency.



COURSE: 102-I: Animal Disease Recognition & WMD Awareness

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Animal Disease Recognition and WMD Awareness - Foreign Animal Disease recognition will be taught to County CART participants and County Extension Agents to assist the agriculture and veterinary community in rapidly recognizing that a foreign or unknown disease has been found in food production livestock. WMD Awareness will be emphasized.
