Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) is an
honorary Extension fraternity recognizing excellence in the Cooperative
Extension community. It provides opportunity for networking, fellowship
and collaborative efforts. It fosters standards of excellence in the
Extension System and develops the Extension profession and professional.
President’s Message
Hello ESP Member!
I want to thank everyone for attending the 2009 Epsilon Sigma Phi Annual
Meeting. A fine informative program was conducted. It is always an
enjoyable opportunity to meet with fellow extension agents and to also
visit with retired employees.
We express our appreciation to Dr. Howard van Dijk for providing
leadership as President of the Alpha Phi Chapter over the past year.
Howard’s dedication and hard work over the past years has been
among the principal reasons for the success of our Chapter. We are
truly grateful to him for his continued support to Alpha Phi Chapter.
Membership in Epsilon Sigma Phi is an honor and recognition by your
peers, administrators, of fine work as extension professional educators.
ESP offers professional development programs and provides many awards
for outstanding performance throughout a career. Professional development
may also take place through additional education opportunities and
ESP provides opportunities for scholarship assistance. Continuing your
membership is important in your personal career and is needed to maintain
an active and viable chapter. Therefore, please consider paying your
dues for 2010, if perhaps you allowed it to lapse. Contact Christine
Patrick for a current membership update.
As we make plans for the coming year, I want you to feel free to contact
your current officers and committee chairs with your thoughts and ideas
for how we can improve our state association. This year’s board
is listed in this newsletter. We ask that you please help your board
this year in 2 ways:
- Help us recruit new members to Epsilon Sigma Phi - contact us with
possible new member nominations.
- Provide us with ideas and suggestion for the annual meeting in
October, 2010. We are looking for ideas for speakers, workshops and
a theme for the conference.
