College of Engineering and Science Faculty Win Workshop Award at 2008 Frontiers in Education Conference
Lisa Benson, Bill Moss, Scott Schiff, Sherrill Biggers and Marisa Orr have been selected to receive the Helen Plants Award for the Best Nontraditional Session at the 2008 Frontiers in Education Conference for their presentation, "Enhancing Student Learning Using the SCALE-UP Format." The session featured an overview of SCALE-UP, a sample lesson taught in SCALE-UP format, and a group reflection activity. This award will be presented during the 2009 Frontiers in Education Conference in San Antonio, Texas, scheduled for October 18-21, 2009.
The Helen Plants Award was established to recognize one of the pioneers in the Educational Research and Methods Division of the American Society for Engineering Education. Helen Plants led the efforts to develop workshops and other creative sessions for the FIE conference. Her creativity and contributions were recognized through this award, as she truly embodied the characteristics that the sessions exemplify.
