Meat packaging plants such as this one remain an active business throughout South Carolina. Clemson's Livestock-Poultry Health (LPH) division houses the state's Meat and Poultry Inspection Department. The mission of this department is to protect the health of consumers by providing a comprehensive inspection service to assure that meat and poultry products are safe, wholesome and accurately labeled.
