Any 4-H or FFA member, age 9-17, can raise and show a registered dairy heifer for 18 months in the South Carolina Dairy Heifer Project. The Dairy Evaluation contest is a state level contest that helps students develop skills in dairy cattle selection and herd management.
The Milk Quality & Products contest is a state level contest that prepares youth to identify and/or judge dairy products based on quality, flavor, texture, and appearance which indicate production, processing, and handling conditions that can influence the overall quality of a finished dairy product.

The annual Clemson University Spring Dairy Show is for registered females of the Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, and Brown Swiss breeds. Animals owned by adults, 4-H, and FFA members may be shown. The show begins with showmanship at 8:00 a.m. at the Garrison Arena (1101 West Queen St.; Pendleton, SC 29670). Each summer a different southeastern state is asked to host a fun and educational 5 day program with opportunities to visit a wide variety of farms with some interesting stops along the way. This youth dairy retreat is a great way to broaden your experience with the dairy industry and make some new friends along the way!
This conference is open to 15-18 year-olds who have participated in the 4-H Diary Program for at least 3 years and who are currently enrolled in 4-H.
