Clemson Extension employs Extension Agents who work closely with state extension specialists and researchers located on campus and at the various research and education centers located across the state.  Your local Extension Agents provide expertise in Agronomic Crops, Economic & Community Development, Food Safety & Nutrition, 4-H, Horticulture, Livestock & Forages, and Natural Resources.

2012 Master Gardener Class

Date: January 23 - April 16

Time: 9:30 am - 12 noon OR 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Florence County Extension Office

Cost: $300 (includes supplies and Master Gardener Training Manual)

The Master Gardener Class is an intensive thirteen week horticultural training which includes topics such as vegetable gardening, fruit culture, annuals, and perennials.  Additional topics inlcude woody ornamentals, turf management, interior plants, pest control, basic landscaping, and identification and usage of common landscape plants.

The Master Gardener Class will begin on Monday,  January 23, 2012 and continue every Monday through February, March, and the first three weeks of April.  Participants may choose to attend the morning session from 9:00 am - 12 noon or the evening session from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm.  The total cost for the course is $300 which includes supplies and a wonderful Master Gardener book.  Those interested in the class can register at the Florence County Extension Office or mail payment to 2685 S. Irby, St., Ste. K, Florence, SC 29505.  The Extension Office is located at the rear of the Florence County Public Services building on the corner of Third Loop and Irby Street and is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Private Applicator Pesticide Training

Date: February 8

Time: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Location: Florence County Extension Office

Cost: $50 (This fee covers the training only.  The cost of a Private Applicator License from the Department of Pesticide Regulation is a separate fee.)
