Green Lacewing

green lacewingThis delicate beneficial insect is a weak flier. The larvae feed on many soft-bodied insects such as aphids, mealybugs, and thrips that happen to wander too close. The voracious larvae are commonly called aphid lions, which feed on plant pests, or ant lions or doodle-bugs, which produce funnel-shaped burrows in the soil and feed on insects that accidentally drop in.
