Directors

University Facilities consists of a number of departments and shops that collaborate daily to maintain a safe, clean and accessible campus for faculty and students. For information on each service area, please see the menu to the left. Below are descriptions for our department directors, each of whom play a key role in achieving the Facilities mission.

Bob Wells, Chief Facilities Officer

Bob Wells, Chief Facilities OfficerBob Wells became the Chief Facilities Officer at Clemson in August 1999 after a seven year stint at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, two years as the Director of Capital Projects and five years as the Chief Facilities Officer. Prior to UNC Charlotte, Bob spent 20 years as an officer in the Coast Guard managing construction projects and facilities at Coast Guard facilities along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic seaboard. After graduating from high school in Columbia, SC, he attended the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut and the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Masters in Civil Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in North and South Carolina.

Jeff Hinson, Director of Utilities Services

Jeff Hinson, Director of Utilities ServicesJeff Hinson is our current Utilities Services Director, and is responsible for a variety of systems and services, including Distributed Systems Maintenance, Chilled and Hot Water services, Potable Water, Sewage Treatment, Utility Billing Services and on-campus Energy Conservation.

Bill Hughes, Director of Maintenance and Minor Projects

Bill Hughes, Director of Maintenance and Minor ProjectsBill Hughes serves as Director of Maintenance and Minor Projects. The major areas and services within his managerial responsibilities include Campus Zone Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Facilities' various Craft Shops, Emergency Repairs, Cost Estimating, Regulatory / Safety, Minor Projects and Site Surveyance.

Todd Barnette, Director of Support Services

Todd Barnette, Director of Support ServicesTodd Barnette has served as Director of Support Services for a number of years, and within his role he has assisted in addressing the operational needs of departments inside and out of Facilities. Todd is primarily tasked with directing Quality Assurance, Training Development, Financial Administration, Network Administration, Human Resources, Management of Campus Cemetary, and Maintenance Stores.

Adrienne Gerus, Director of Landscape Services

Adrienne Gerus, Director of Landscape ServicesCredit for Clemson University's well-maintained and daresay beautiful campus can be attributed to Facilities' Landscape Services department, under the direction of Adrienne Gerus. She has held the appointment of Director of Landscape Services for several years, and is responsible for overall Landscape Maintenance, Refuse Collection, Road and Parking Lot Maintenance, and Moving Services.

Gerald Vander Mey, Director of Campus Planning

Gerald Vander Mey, Director of Campus PlanningGerald Vander Mey plays a significant role in the evolution of Clemson University's campus. As Director of Campus Planning, he and his department are tasked with the challenge of addressing long and short-term planning issues, as well as developing solutions to ever-changing demands of students, faculty and staff.

John McEntire, Director of Capital Projects

John McEntire, Director of Capital ProjectsHaving worked for Facilities as a Project Manager for years, John McEntire is now responsible for managing both Capital Projects and Project Management.


Tom Jones, Director

Tom Jones, Director of Custodial ServicesTom Jones is our current Director of Custodial Services. Tom's primary responsibilities as Director include planning and directing environmental management within University Facilities. He is also responsible for managing campus-based special project services and events.
