02 00 00 Existing Information

Information Availability

The Owner has archived varying amounts of information concerning sites and locations on the campus that are available for use by the consulting professional. The amount of information available at a particular site varies at the different locations on campus. The availability and use of this information can be coordinated through the Project Manager.

02 21 00 Surveys

Boundary, Topographic, and Utility Survey

If the project requires a current boundary, topographic or utility survey, the A/E shall coordinate the procurement of this service with the Project Manager. Depending on the project and scope of the information needed, this service may be procured either directly by the Owner or by the A/E.

The survey shall be tied to a minimum of two University benchmarks and, upon completion be delivered to the Clemson University Surveyor as well as raw point file in PNEZD format (point #, northing, easting, elevation, description).

The design team shall geo-reference the South Carolina State Plane Coordinate System Single Zone 3900 and utilize North American Horizontal Datum (NAD83) and North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88).

02 26 00 Hazardous Materials Assessment

Before a facility or a portion of a facility is renovated or demolished, the facility or portion of the facility being renovated must be thoroughly inspected for the presence of asbestos. The inspection must be performed by a person who has been trained and licensed as an Asbestos Building Inspector or management planner in accordance with State training and licensing requirements. Other hazardous materials such as lead and PCB’s may also exist. Coordinate with the project manager to determine if an inspection has been performed within in the last three years or if a new inspection is required.

02 32 00 Subsurface Investigation

Geotechnical Investigation

If the project requires a geotechnical survey or subsurface drilling, the A/E shall coordinate the procurement of this service with the Project Manager. Depending on the project and scope of the work, this service may be procured directly by the Owner or by the A/E.

Any subsurface investigation must include a utility location prior to any drilling or excavation. Both the Facilities Survey group and local commercial utility locating services PUPS (811) must be contacted prior to any subsurface investigation. Coordinate this work with the Project Manager.
