Managing the custodial needs of Clemson University is an enormous task, one that we handily meet on a daily basis thanks to our dedicated supervisors and their respective team members. Below you will find introductions to the administrative staff.
Tom Jones, Director
Tom Jones became the Director of Custodial, Recycling, and Special Events in 2006. His primary responsibilities as Director include maintaining our buildings to a clean and healthy standard and planning and directing environmental stewardship within University Facilities. He is also responsible for managing campus-based special project services and events.
Charles Brown, Custodial Manager
Charles Brown began his career with Clemson University in 1990. He manages 4 supervisors and approximately 65 employees. Charles's primary responsibility as manager is the cleanliness and sanitation of all academic and administrative buildings. Plan that includes prioritizing and directing the job functions of subordinates, as well as assuring that they comply with the rules and regulations of Clemson University and University Facilities.
David Vandeventer, Custodial & Recycling Manager, Special Events
David Van Deventer began his career with Clemson University in August 2008. Dave's primary responsibilities will be in Recycling, however he will also be assisting in Custodial Services. His Recycling efforts will be primarily focused on efficiency and processes of waste management while working to keep waste costs manageable yet with a focus on a sustainable future. His responsibilities with Custodial Services are to help manage the campus housekeeping and cleanliness. He also coordinates Facilities' services in connection with campus special events. Finally, Dave's purpose is to help achieve the goals of the department and assist the management team where needed.
Teresa Blanding, Administrative Assistant
Teresa Blanding began her career with Clemson University in 1990. She is the Administrative Assistant of Custodial Services. Teresa's responsibilities include performing administrative and complex secretarial duties for the director, while working closely with other managers and supervisors in the areas of personnel and payroll services. She also acts as our primary contact person for the department.
