Custodial Services, Recycling & Special Events

We are problem solvers with a mission; a commitment to enhance and maintain the entire campus and provide clean, safe, and sanitary conditions for everyone to enjoy.

Services We Provide

The Department of Custodial Services, a vital part of University Facilities, is responsible for maintaining the appearance of more than 75 academic and administrative buildings at Clemson University. We manage the custodial care of all academic and administrative areas, including rest rooms and lobbies. To ensure consistent and reliable service, a frequency schedule has been established in each area for each task.

Our department employs 146 full time employees. The total gross square footage which we're responsible for is 3,479,066. Each custodian cleans an area of approximately 30,000 square feet. To keep a typical position up to the standards we have established, each custodian must prioritize the needs of the building users with an on-going program of deep cleaning.

For basic custodial service in buildings, contact the particular building's head custodian. The custodial staff begins work at 5:00 am and works until 1:00 p m and the Floor Crew begins work at 11:00 p m and works until 7:00 am. Custodial Services has an answering machine that either delivers a message to the appropriate person the next working day, or in case of an emergency, directs the caller to the Campus Police for immediate service.
