Utility Services

Utility Services’ goal is to provide a dependable supply of steam, chilled water, electricity, and potable water in support of Clemson University’s mission of teaching, research, and public service while striving to reduce overall energy consumption through efficient and effective energy management strategies.

Services We Provide

Services provided can be generally categorized as follows:

Electrical Distribution: operation and maintenance of all on campus underground and overhead electrical distribution lines emanating from Duke Energy and Blue Ridge Electric. This distribution system includes electrical service to buildings, street and walkway lighting, as well as traffic signals.

Mechanical Distribution: operation and maintenance of all underground distribution lines for steam, chilled water, domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm water, and natural gas.

Utility Production: 24/7 operation and maintenance of two chilled water plants, a central energy plant for steam and chilled water, and the wastewater treatment plant.

Utility Engineering: engineering design and project management in support of both the utility distribution systems as well as the utility production assets.
