Clemson mourns the death of student Rey Gonzales

April 23, 2008

Rey Galino Gonzales, 42, a first-year industrial engineering graduate student, died April 21.

A native of the Philippines, Gonzales was a member of Crosspoint Church in Clemson and The Navigators, an international Christian outreach ministry to college campuses, military bases, inner cities, prisons and youth camps.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Crosspoint Church, 195 Old Greenville Highway in Clemson (building formerly occupied by Clemson United Methodist Church).

There will not be a separate campus memorial service. The location of Crosspoint Church, across from Riggs Soccer Stadium, should be accessible to all students, faculty, staff and community members who want to support the Gonzales family.

Gonzales is survived by his wife, Alma Oberes Gonzales, a Clemson graduate student in chemistry, and a daughter, Dorothy Elise Gonzales. Condolences can be sent to the family at 900 Georgetown Street, Clemson, SC 29631.

Condolences may also be expressed online with Dillard Funeral Home.
