Congratulations on your graduation from the SDP. Now is the time to volunteer the 15 or more hours of service back to the program. You have a year following your graduation to complete your volunteer service, however we encourage you to begin right away. Here are several ways to be involved with the SDP:
There are four teams on which you may serve and several other volunteer opportunities that you can find here. Download the Volunteer Activity Form.
Coaching Team: This team will assist the participants throughout the year with their plans and making sure their activities match their goals for each of the three development groups (professional, service, personal). The time commitment will be heavier in June and then you should be available for 1.5 hours each month to discuss the progress of each participant. Responsibilities include meeting with participants in June and July to help them finalize their plans. Then you will meet as needed with participants who may need to change activities or have other issues. You will meet quarterly to review plans to ensure participants are on track for completion of the program.
Marketing Team: This team will assist with promotional material and special events (Benefits Fair, Retreat, Profiles, etc.). You should be available for 1.5 hours each month.
Operations Team: This team will review program documentation and create/revise forms based on program needs. You will assist with creating surveys and compiling the results. You will also help plan and organize the team building, graduation and orientation events. You should be available for 1.5 hours each month.
Review Team: This team will review applications of staff wishing to be enrolled in the next SDP class. The time commitment will be April and May. Responsibilities include scoring each application within your peer group. Training sessions will be provided to learn the rubric for scoring, how to provide supporting reasoning for the scores you give and meeting with other review team members to resolve scoring issues if necessary. Reviewers can’t be the supervisor of an applicant and should not have assisted any applicants with their applications.
