This year, the Staff Senate Golf Tournament will be played on October 9, 2009 instead of the spring. The later date allows us to offer parents and students the opportunity to play in family teams.
History of the Tournament
In 1989, the Staff Senate established an academic scholarship which was awarded to the child of a staff member. Today, we award ten $1,150 scholarships. Five of these scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, and five are based on financail need and academic performance.
These scholarships are made possible through the generous support from Clemson University staff, faculty and the surrounding community. Funds are raised by payroll deduction and from and annual golf tournament held at the Walker Course. A good sponsorship response and tournament turnout makes the sustainability of these scholarships possible.
