Academic Interests

Hello, I’m Ron Johnson. I moved to Clemson University from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in fall, 2007. At Clemson, I currently teach Wildlife Biology (WFB 300) and Introduction to Wildlife Conservation (WFB 306) and am developing outreach and research programs. Primary interest areas are listed below. I still work with students and a research group in Nebraska and, at Clemson, plan to maintain a similar direction and perhaps synergy with the ongoing efforts there.

Research Interests:
  • Avian conservation and function in managed landscapes, primarily agroecosystems
  • Agroecology - Healthy Farm Index; bird-friendly farming
  • Avian habitat relationships
  • Ecological and behavioral aspects of wildlife damage.
Outreach Interests:
  • Wildlife stewardship in backyards, acreages, and farms
  • Songbirds, pest birds, and snakes
  • Family outdoor activities; youth life skills development
  • Research Division Project: Integrating Biological Diversity Into Managed Land-use Systems, NEB-40-039. 2005–2010.
