My research interests center upon the habitat relationships of avifauna and herpetofauna in managed landscapes. I have a particular interest in the ecology of early-successional habitats and the species that occupy these ephemeral areas. My current research projects include:
-
An assessment of the effects of growing season versus dormant season prescribed fire on songbirds and red-cockaded woodpeckers in long-leaf pine forests on the Brosnan Forest, Dorchester, South Carolina
-
Effects of timber harvest within riparian zones on Acadian flycatcher (Empidonax virescens) and Louisiana waterthrush (Seiurus moticilla) activity in Southwest Georgia
-
Nesting ecology of the Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris) in agricultural landscapes on the coastal plain of South Carolina
-
Fruit resource availability and quality in two-age hardwood stands and relationships to avian community structure in the mountains of western North Carolina
-
Foraging and roosting ecology of forest bats in western North Carolina
-
Effects of burning and fuel reduction on avifauna and herpetofauna in the South Carolina Piedmont
-
Reclaimed landfills as surrogate habitat for grassland birds in South Carolina
-
Habitat selection of wintering Henslow’s sparrows (Ammodramus henslowii) on the upper coastal plain of South Carolina
