Objectives

  • To determine the true distribution and population status of Double-crested Cormorants across the state of South Carolina, and possibly the Southeast.

  • To gain a better understanding of the impacts that Double-crested Cormorants have on native habitats and vegetation.

  • To determine the impacts that Double-crested Cormorants have on fisheries in South Carolina, particularly the Santee system.

  • To develop a standardized method to access the status, distribution and impacts of expanding cormorant populations.
