Nancy M. Porter, Ph.D., CFCS, RFG

Dr. Nancy M. Porter is a Family Resource Management Specialist with the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service and holds the rank of Professor. Her primary areas of expertise are family financial management and consumer education. Prior to joining Clemson, Dr. Porter taught at Delta State University in Mississippi and in the Towanda Area Public Schools

In 2000, Dr. Porter served as the National Program Leader for Family Economics through an Interagency Personnel Agreement with U.S.D.A., Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES). She provided national leadership on family economics and consumer issues for the Cooperative Extension Service and land grant university system, and worked directly with a number of partners throughout the United States. During this time, she provided leadership for writing a white paper to propose a new National Extension Initiative entitled Financial Security in Later Life which was approved in October 2000. Since returning to Clemson, Dr. Porter continues her work with the Initiative

Dr. Porter completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in Home Economics Education at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania. Her Ph.D., in Family Resource Management, was earned at Virginia Tech.
