Marian A. Robinson

Marian A. Robinson is responsible for creating linkages between the College of HEHD faculty and community groups. She provides direct support to existing initiatives and looks for opportunities for new ones. Specific roles include developing and maintaining community linkages and facilitating communication for collaboration. Her activities relate specifically to the following College five collaborative areas, with particular emphasis on Family & Youth Development. The five collaborative areas are:

Devoting her time to numerous research projects and educational initiatives, Marian is responsible for developing linkages between the College and other community organizations. Focusing on building capacity in the communities, Marian provides direct support and guidance to existing and new community initiatives, and maintains an ongoing dialogue to stimulate opportunities for collaboration. To support educational programs, Marian will seek ways to link the College’s educational outreach needs to those in the community via service projects.

Marian’s commitment to the empowerment of community residents and her expertise in building and sustaining relationships is her major strength. Her talents will be helpful in her role as community liaison and will ensure a win-win relationship for the College and partnering communities.

Marian was honored for her work with cancer prevention in upstate communities. She received the South Carolina Cancer Alliance Award for Early Detection at the April 29, 2005 SCCA Annual Meeting.

Clemson University President James Barker awarded Marian Robinson with the 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Excellence in Service. Robinson, a program assistant within the College of HEHD, received the award on January 16, 2007 as part of the University's annual celebration of the slain civil rights leader.
