- Restricted gifts, whether for immediate use or permanent endowment, are for a specific purpose, such as scholarships, faculty development, program support, campus beautification or any purpose included among the university's objectives and in keeping with the mission of Clemson.
- Unrestricted gifts, whether for immediate use or permanent endowment, give the University the flexibility to take advantage of special opportunities and to meet emergency needs. Income from unrestricted endowment funds will be used as recommended by the president and approved by the Clemson University Foundation. Unrestricted endowment funds may be named in your honor, as donor, or to honor a name of your choosing.
