Gift Designations
Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted gifts are among the most valuable gifts to Clemson. These gifts allow University leadership the flexibility to meet Clemson’s most critical needs as they arise and take advantage of unexpected opportunities.
Donors may give unrestricted gifts for immediate use, or they may create a new or give to an existing unrestricted endowment. Either way, the gifts will go where they are needed the most to support students and faculty.
Restricted Gifts
Restricted gifts are designated by the donor for a particular purpose — such as scholarships, faculty development or programmatic support — or for a particular college or unit. Whether for immediate use or as part of a permanent endowment, gifts may be earmarked for any purpose among the University's objectives and in keeping with the mission of Clemson.
The priorities for the Will to Lead campaign are students and faculty. Clemson encourages donors who wish to earmark their gifts to do so in support of these priorities. Learn more about how to support the priorities of the campaign.
Colleges and Units
Restricted gifts may be designated for a particular academic unit of the University. The major units include the following:
- College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences
- College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities
- College of Business and Behavioral Science
- College of Engineering and Science
- College of Health, Education and Human Development
- Library
- Public Service Activities
- Student Affairs
- Athletics
Class Projects
Each year, class projects are a way for alumni to continue existing traditions and establish new traditions for Clemson. From creating scholarship endowments to memorial gardens to senior sidewalks in the President's Park, class projects account for a significant amount of volunteer activity and gift contributions through the Clemson Fund.
