Types of Gifts

There are many ways you can support Clemson. The best giving plans can have a huge impact on the University while improving your financial and/or tax situation.

You can make a cash gift and use matching funds from your employer to multiply what you have given. You can plan a gift that will be fully funded in the future through a will or trust. Or, you can select a giving method that will pay you for a particular period of time, leaving the principal as your legacy to Clemson.

There are many options. But whatever type of gift you decide to make, we will work with you to ensure that both you and the University earn the greatest benefit.

Special Giving Opportunities

The University has several unique giving programs that support Clemson.

Gift Considerations

Gifts to Clemson University may be current or deferred.

  • Current gifts are given almost immediately, typically as cash, securities and sometimes real estate. In most cases, the benefit of current gifts is felt instantly. They can be unrestricted or restricted, and current gifts always are counted as annual gifts to the Clemson Fund.
  • Deferred gifts come later, often through gifts of life insurance, trusts, retirement assets and bequests. Learn more about planning your gift.

Tributes and Memorials

A tribute gift is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor someone with your gift to Clemson University.

When you make a gift in honor or memory of someone, a letter is sent to the recipient or family member acknowledging that you made the tribute gift.
