Purpose: The purposes of these awards are to acquaint professional scientists with:

  • the activities and responsibilities of middle school mathematics and science teachers, and
  • national and state movements to improve student performance in science and mathematics

 

Eligibility & Award Information

Eligibility:

Doctoral and masters level students in the life, earth, physical and mathematical sciences are eligible for these awards. Underrepresented minority students are especially encouraged to apply.

Award:

The twelve-month award consists of $27,500. You will receive a paycheck every two weeks. Fellowships are awarded for one year and are not normally renewable.

Tuition and Fees:

A separate award covers tuition and fees.

Travel:

Awardess will travel (expense paid) to an annual scientific society meeting in their subject area, to the annual education meetin in the subject area in which they assist, and to the South Carolina state meeting in the subject area in which they assist.
