Bob
Horton joined the Clemson faculty in 1998, appointed as
Assistant Professor of Secondary Math Education. Prior
to this, he taught both high school and junior high school
mathematics, including a four-year stint as math department
head. He also taught college math and statistics for several
years as an adjunct. During the 1980’s he took a
six-year hiatus from teaching to work in the Network Training
Center for AT&T, where he developed and taught courses
and also worked as a technical writer. He has a B.S. from
the University of Wisconsin Madison, an M.Ed. from Miami
University (Ohio), and an Ed.D. from the University of
Cincinnati. For the G K-12 project, he serves, along with
Bill Leonard, as co-instructor for the summer course and
joins the other PI’s in participating in our fall
meetings. His interests focus around the use of technology
in promoting mathematical understanding and in using mathematics
to create models of real world phenomena.
