Who is Dr. Steck?

Mary Beth Steck is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing. Her primary research interests include genetic discrimination, risk assessments of cancer syndromes, and autism spectrum disorder. Her clinical specialties include family practice and health care genetics. She is a certified family nurse practitioner.

How Dr. Steck’s research is transforming health care

Mary Beth is working to develop awareness of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) among health care professionals. She is currently measuring awareness of genetic discrimination and GINA in advanced practice nurses. Her future research includes researching candidate genes for development of seizures in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
