The 2013-2014 Academic year has witnessed the School of Education engaged in a series of activities and discussions towards transforming the School of Education into a leader in systemically improving education, community engagement, and preparing culturally competent scholar practitioners who promote the growth, education, and development of all individuals, with emphasis on underperforming schools and underserved communities across the state and nation.
Consequently, the school made changes to two major mission statements related to diversity during the academic year. Specifically, the Mission Statement and the school’s Commitment to Diversity Statement were revised.
Diversity Standard 1: Instructional and Field-based Opportunities for Candidates
Curriculum, resources, and field/clinical experiences in programs offered by the School of Education will support the development of each candidate with specific attention to diversity.
Diversity Standard 2: Other Experiential Opportunities for Candidates
Information on diversity-related experiential opportunities and resources for candidates will be distributed.
Diversity Standard 3: Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Candidates
Examine and address policies within the School of Education in order to create an environment that attracts and supports all candidates.
Diversity Standard 4: Recruitment, Development, and Retention of Faculty and Staff
Examine and address policies within the School of Education in order to create an environment that attracts and supports all faculty and staff.
