A Comment on My Actions

When first starting this project I found that I did do some good things, but quickly found that I could do a lot more. One thing about it was most of the things I found out I could do were simple and took very little time to do.

I found that I saved some money in energy bills by installing better weather stripping and the new fluorescent light bulb. I thought, it may cost a little out of pocket in the short term but the long-term benefits were great. Imagine saving $30 on your next energy bill by just changing a few light bulbs and weather proofing doors and windows. The effect is threefold when changing light bulbs. You save money, get longer and better light, and cut down on CO2 emissions. I think that I have made a good effort in reducing harmful emissions.

I have also done a better job of recycling. I have found that it is very easy to simply sort out trash and it cuts down on the amount you have to throw away. I know that I have done my part, and am still trying to keep as much trash out of the landfills.

I feel that I have fully met my expectations as set out at the beginning of the term. I feel that it was a good start for me and I will continue to keep doing them. I would like to see others do it. Not only does being sustainable mean saving money and protecting the environment, it just makes good sense. I am proud of the fact that I can help do my part.
