A Comment on My Actions
When first starting this project I found that I did do some good things, but quickly found that I could do a lot more. One thing about it was most of the things I found out I could do were simple and took very little time to do.
I found that I saved some money in energy bills by installing better weather stripping and the new fluorescent light bulb. I thought, it may cost a little out of pocket in the short term but the long-term benefits were great. Imagine saving $30 on your next energy bill by just changing a few light bulbs and weather proofing doors and windows. The effect is threefold when changing light bulbs. You save money, get longer and better light, and cut down on CO
2 emissions. I think that I have made a good effort in reducing harmful emissions.I have also done a better job of recycling. I have found that it is very easy to simply sort out trash and it cuts down on the amount you have to throw away. I know that I have done my part, and am still trying to keep as much trash out of the landfills.
I feel that I have fully met my expectations as set out at the beginning of the term. I feel that it was a good start for me and I will continue to keep doing them. I would like to see others do it. Not only does being sustainable mean saving money and protecting the environment, it just makes good sense. I am proud of the fact that I can help do my part.
