In this world of fast moving technology, it is easy to become wrapped up in a selfish way of life. Sometimes this way of life needs review, and change employed. Before this project I could be classified as a consumer. Now my way of thinking has shifted to conservation.
There are many things that can be done that require no extra time, just a change in life style. Filling the sink while shaving and taking shorter showers are two easy ways to conserve water. Those are two of the things I choose as part of my project. They are simple to accomplish. Another way that I saved water is by placing a _ gallon bottle filled with sand in my toilets tank. This is probably the easiest thing I did. Because once the bottle is in there it works by itself. Not only is water conserved when I use it, but roommates and friends also conserve water.
The next way that I choose to conserve was by carpooling to school. If just another person and myself carpooled our weekly gas consumption would be cut in half. That might amount to only one or two gallons, but in the course of a semester it could be twenty our thirty gallons.
While this project was going on I felt inspired to add recycling into my plan. It amazed me how quickly that the bin filled up with cans, bottles, and glass. Before all of it would have be thrown away, but it now has a second life. This is probably the most important change that I have made in my life style.
It is important that we become aware of what is being done to our planet. If we continue on our current path we will be in a heap of trouble.
