Financial Aid
Be sure to plan ahead concerning your student financial aid and your study abroad program—Make it Work!
Student financial aid, including federal, state and Clemson University aid, are available for study abroad opportunities. Some aid is available for only certain types of study abroad programs. We encourage students to meet with the study abroad coordinator in the Office of Student Financial Aid at least three months before departure in order to plan their finances. Call the Office of Student Financial Aid at (864) 656-2280 to schedule your appointment. Before you attend this meeting, make sure you have the following information:
Study Abroad Financial Aid Checklist:
- Meet with the Study Abroad Office (E-307 Martin Hall; abroad-L@clemson.edu; 864.656.2457)
- Know the Country, Institution, and estimated date of departure
- Know the actual dates of the academic term(s) in which you plan to enroll
- Know the name and complete address of a contact at the foreign institution
- Meet with your professor or advisor about your program
- Present a completed Course Work to be Taken Abroad Form (this form will be given to you by your Study Abroad Advisor)
- Have an itemized cost of attendance for your program. This form includes the estimated cost of tuition, books, housing, meals, travel, etc that you will incur on a study abroad. (Many of these forms are available in the Study Abroad Office)
Remember that all requirements to renew your aid for the following year must be met while you are studying abroad, and you will not receive your financial aid until Clemson receives a Verification of Enrollment form from the study abroad program or host university you are attending.
